Doris V. Covey

1926 - 2017

Doris V. Covey, 90, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully in her home Thursday, March 23, 2017. She was born March 28, 1926, to the late James and Inez (Stone) McKendry, of New Kensington. She was known for baking her homemade buns, which she gave away to her family, and she loved to tend her flower garden. Surviving are her children, Inez (Frank) Harpster, Judy (David) Laskey, William (Mary Lou) Covey III, Timothy Covey, and Charla (Chuck) Bash; her grandchildren, Traci (John) Sipocz, Doris Laskey, Holly Urick, Bryan (Leslie) Laskey, William (Tina) Covey IV, Jayson (Jennifer) Covey, Ryan Covey, Kristin (Sean) O'Dell, Jamie (Chris) Teranna, Judy Beth (Mike) Ring, Matthew Covey, and Amber (TJ) O'Sullivan; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Covey Jr.; a son, James T. Covey; two grandsons, Thomas and William Schrock; and her nine siblings.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 26, at ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 27, with the Rev. Sharon Waltenbaugh officiating. Private burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Arnold.
