Eliza J. Kubichan

1933 - 2025

Eliza Jane "Betty" Kubichan (nee McCluskey), 91, passed away peacefully on Oct. 28, 2025, in Chesapeake, VA. Betty lost her husband, Paul, on Sept. 6, 2024. Born on Nov. 23, 1933, in Springdale, Betty was the beloved daughter of Luella and Norman McCluskey. She grew up in a large and loving family alongside her eight siblings, Bill, Ruth, Dottie, Alma, Norman, Jack, Joe, and Teddy all of whom preceded her in death. Betty dedicated much of her life to nurturing her family and supporting her community. She worked in the cafeteria at Deer Lakes High School, where she was a familiar and friendly face to generations of students. Her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on those she encountered during her years of service. A woman of faith, Betty was a devoted member of Faith Lutheran Church in Natrona Heights. Her spiritual life was an important part of who she was and guided her throughout the years. Betty found joy in simple pleasures and cherished time spent with friends. She especially enjoyed playing cards with her high school friends a pastime that brought laughter and companionship into her life for many years. Above all else, Betty was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is lovingly remembered by her children, son, Paul Kubichan and his wife, Lynn; daughter, Barbara Bartz and her husband, Mark; and son, John Kubichan and his wife, Terry. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Jeff, Jason, Joel, Kristen, Jill, and Bryan; and 13 great-grandchildren who brought immense pride and happiness to her life. Betty's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. May her life be celebrated with gratitude for the love she gave so freely. A private family service will be held to honor her life.
