Eugene J. Rebyanski, 78, of Kiski Township, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, in Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. He was born June 24, 1930, in Foster, Pa., a son of the late Michael and Leona (Bortz) Rebyanski. Mr. Rebyanski lived in the Kiski Township area all his life. He was a coal miner for the Canterbury Coal Company of Kiski Township for 23 years, retiring Oct. 21, 1982. He served in the Army and Marine Corps. He was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Apollo, American Legion 631 of Spring Church for 21 years and the United Mine Workers Union. He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping and talking with people. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Steve and Michael Rebyanski; stepsister, Elizabeth Vantressel; and stepbrother, Andy Salo. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Flora C. (Bozzzarelli) Rebyanski, of Kiski Township; three sons, Sal M. (Connie Byers) Rebyanski, of Bell Township, Michael T. (Diana) Rebyanski, of West Lebanon, and Eugene R. (Linda) Rebyanski, of Oakmont; four grandchildren, Anthony Rebyanski, Matthew Rebyanski, Nicole D. Rebyanski and Taylor Rebyanski; four brothers-in-law; and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in St. James Roman Catholic Church, Apollo, with Father John Euker officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery, Avonmore, where military honors will be accorded by Armstrong County American Legion Honor Guard.
