Everett Shea Obituary

Everett Draucher Shea Jr., 84, of Pinehurst, N.C., passed away Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst, N.C. A native of Pennsylvania most of his life, he graduated from Tarentum High School, Grove City College and the University of Pittsburgh. Everett worked for Keystone Carbon Company in St. Mary's, Pennsylvania for 43 years as vice president of Sales and Marketing. Shea was active in Kiwanis, his church and seriously raised Arabian Horses for 50 years. He was a member of the Arabian Horse Registry of America for 35 years and served as president from 1977 to 1982. He was also an active member of the Arabian Horse Trust in Westminster, Colo. Shea leaves a wife of 63 years, JoAnn; and four children, Jeffrey E. and wife, Louanne Tucker, Kathy A. Chera and husband, Joseph Chera, Cynthia E. Cox Wilson and husband, Terry Wilson, and Samuel E. and Anne Hoyt; 10 grandchildren, Lauren M. Shea Abadie and husband, Dr. Sebastian Abadie, Christine J. Shea and Wendeline M. Shea, Madeline Chera, Ben Chera, Julian Cox, Malcolm Cox, Isaac Cox, Brian Thompson and Everett S. Shea; and three great-grandchildren, Liam Shea Abadie, Walter Shea Abadie and Shea Alexander Cox. He will be laid to rest next to his mother, Elva Mae, and father, Everett Sr., in the Luthersburg Union Cemetery in Luthersburg, Pa. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, at BOLES FUNERAL HOME in Southern Pines with the Rev. Archie P. Stevens officiating. A time of visitation will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to FirstHealth Hospice House, 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374. Online condolences may be made at http://www.bolesfuneralhome.com. Boles Funeral Home of Southern Pines is serving the family.
