Florein Mueller

Florein M. (Schecklman) Mueller, 100, of Latrobe, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Loyalhanna Senior Suites. Born Feb. 17, 1925, in Loyal, WI, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Mary (Walter) Schecklman. Florein was a 1943 graduate of Loyal High School. An active member of St. Vincent Basilica Parish and its Rosary Altar Society, she had volunteered at the Basilica Gift Shop, the Gristmill, and the gardening outside the Basilica. She also was a member of the Latrobe Area Hospital Aid Society and had volunteered at the Little Shop in Latrobe Hospital. Her passions included flowers, traveling, and playing bridge in many bridge clubs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roland J. 'Rolly' Mueller; her sister, Rosalind Aumann; and four brothers, George, Anthony, Edward, and Robert Schecklman. Florein is survived by her son, Michael A. Mueller and his wife, Eileen, of Rochester, NY; two grandchildren, Karen Mueller and Eric Mueller and his wife, Nina; a great-grandson, Lucas; one brother, James Schecklman of Wisconsin; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Loyalhanna Senior Suites for their care and concern over the years. She was one of their first residents and enjoyed her time there. They also want to thank all the members of Suncrest Hospice who took care of and spent time with Flo over her last months. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, at the LOPATICH-BRINKER FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. Members of the St. Vincent Rosary Altar Society will recite the Rosary at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, in the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, at St. Vincent Basilica, with the Rev. Killian Loch, O.S.B., as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery.
