Fred Balson Obituary

Fred Nicholas Balson, 73, of Plum Borough, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, at Canterbury Place. He was born Feb. 2, 1952, in Wilkinsburg, son of the late Nick and Matilda (Potochnik) Balson. He was a lifelong resident of Plum Borough and a technician. Fred served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the local VFW and American Legion. Survivors include his brother, James (Jenifer) Balson of Jeannette; sister, Janet M. Hill of Plum Borough; brothers, Nick (Maria) Balson of Plum Borough and Jack (Pamala) Balson of Phoenix, AZ; and also many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Gary Hill. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to UPMC Canterbury Place Family Hospice.
