Giuseppe Conforti Obituary
Giuseppe Conforti, 84, of Lower Burrell, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Sept 6, 1923, in Belmonte, Calabria, Italy, to the late Bonaventura and Maria Conforti. He immigrated to the United States in 1956 with wife, Rosa, and three children. At the age of 19, he proudly served in the Italian Army during World War II. He also was a prisoner of war in Germany. Mr. Conforti was a member of Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, New Kensington, Eagles, Senior Citizens Bowling League and Sportaco Bocci League, all in New Kensington, former Columbiana, Arnold, and enjoyed playing cards with Senior Citizens in Arnold. He owned Conforti's Construction Co. with his sons and also Rosa's Pizza in New Kensington. He specialized in stone walls and loved growing fruits and vegetables for family and friends. Surviving him are his wife of 18 years, Mary Jo Conforti, of Lower Burrell; two sons, Ventura (Dr. J.A.) Conforti, of Sarver, John (Denise) Conforti, of New Kensington; a nephew who he raised, Frank (Jamie) Conforti, of New Kensington; and a daughter, Maria (Jerry) Wolfe Sr., of New Kensington. Also surviving him are four grandchildren, Jerry Lee Wolfe Jr., Christina Wolfe, Sandra Wolfe and Mya Conforti; one great-grandson, Darren Meyers; stepchildren, Daneen (Joseph) Sabo, of Ohio, Doc Dougherty, of Indiana, Pattijo (Vincent) Dispenza, of Monroeville, Carmela (George) Beer, of Tarentum; stepgrandchildren, Joseph and Nicholas Sabo, Brian (Melissa) Dougherty, James and Arlene Dougherty, Nicholas and Natalie Dispenza. Also surviving him are three brothers, Salvatore, Domenico and Mario Conforti, all of Italy. Besides his wife, Rosa, and parents, preceding him in death were two granddaughters, Ali Rose and Arianna Rose Conforti; and stepdaughter, Rochelle Dougherty. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the GIUNTA-BERTUCCI FUNERAL HOME INC., family owned and operated for over 60 years, 1509 Fifth Ave., Arnold. Prayers of transfer will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park Mausoleum, Lower Burrell. Ezekial 37 prayer group will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home for a service, the Eagles will also a service at 8 p.m.
