He was born Dec. 28, 1927, in Pittsburgh, to the late Theodore and Cora (Lauletta) Burkey. Bill was predeceased by his lovely wife of 41 years, Patricia L. Burkey (Kelly); sister, Sarah Jane Pierce; and his daughter, Amy Deangelis. Bill is survived by his daughters, Lara Beth (Mark) Oswalt, Patricia L. Burkey and Billie Lynn (Stephen) Gorencic; sister, Marjorie (Frank) Deluca; and grandchildren, Audrianna Robinson, Emmis Bennis, Alecsander Robinson, Jillian Oswalt, Emma Gorencic, Anna Gorencic, William Oswalt and Addy Gorencic. He is survived by his daughters, Marilyn (Zane) Snyder and Linda (Mark) Gordon; and grandchildren, Leslie Snyder, Lauren Snyder, Zane Snyder, Timothy Snyder, Ian Gordon and Rachel Gordon. After serving in the Army during World War II, Bill was part of the Pittsburgh Police Force and joined the K-9 division upon its inception. He retired in 1979 and became the owner/operator of Creekside Feed Inc. in Plum Borough. It was Bill's desire that when he passed on, we honor his wishes to help further scientific research and education by a body donation. There will be a celebration of life service for Bill at a later date and will be announced to family and friends at that time. Memorial contributions can be made to the Police Officers Support Team, C/O Fraternal Order of Police, 1428 Banksville Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15216.
