Harry Frantz Obituary

Harry F. Frantz Jr., 89, of Lower Burrell, passed away Sunday morning, February 23, 2014, while in the company of family members, at his home. Harry was born Sept. 22, 1924, in South Buffalo Township, Armstrong County. He was the son of the late Helen Lucille (Shrader) and Harry F. Frantz Sr. Harry was a truck driver for the old Penn Dixie Cement Co. in West Winfield Township for 26 years. He also ran his family farm for more than 40 years. Harry and his wife, Beverly, also owned and operated Howard Hanna Valley Realty in Freeport. Harry was an elder and member of Slate Lick United Presbyterian Church and had been an elder and member of Hill United Presbyterian Church in Butler. He was a member of the Armstrong Masonic Lodge 239 in Freeport and founding member of the South Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 538 in Worthington and director and past president of the Allegheny Kiski Board of Realtors. He was a member of the PA Board and the National Board of Realtors. Harry held a CRS and GRI designations as well as a being certified appraiser. He had also received the "Realtor of the Year" award in 2007. Harry is survived by his wife, Beverly (Drury) Frantz; his three sons, Stephen F. (Sonja) Frantz, of Hillsdale, Ind., Thomas A. Frantz, of South Buffalo Township, and James H. (Deborah) Frantz, of South Buffalo Township; his daughter, Lisa A. (Robert) Himes, of South Buffalo Township; stepdaughter, Lisa (Sidney) Lawecki, of South Buffalo Township; and stepson, Chris Alfonso, of Lower Burrell. Harry is survived by his three grandsons, Matthew (Jessica) Frantz, Jason (Kara) Frantz and Eric (Chelsea) Frantz; three granddaughters, Kim (Kevin Stiles) Frantz and Ashley and Jennifer Himes; five great-grandchildren, Lilia Frantz, twins, Andrew and Benjamin Frantz and Samuel and Madeline Frantz; and two stepgrandsons. Harry was preceded in death by his first wife, Sara Jean (Patton) Frantz, who passed in 1997; his grandson, David Frantz; daughter-in-law, Patricia Frantz; and his brother, Robert Frantz. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St., Freeport. Public visitation will continue at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb 26, 2014, in Slate Lick United Presbyterian Church to be followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mark Davis officiating.
