Helen Sacik

1934 - 2018

Helen Sacik died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018, at Premier Armstrong health center. She was born Jan. 5, 1934, in Cadogan to the late Maryann (Dziechiarcz) and Michael J. Volek. She was a member of Christ, Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Ford City. She graduated in 1952 from Ford City High School. Helen enjoyed being a homemaker and collecting snow people and pineapple items for the home. She also liked watching Pittsburgh sports teams on television. She is survived by two daughters, Kim (Mitch) Schneider, of Brackenridge, and Sandra (Greg) Lorence, of Carlisle; two granddaughters, Stephanie (Charlie) Wineke, of Odenton, Md., and Allison Schneider (Nick Karam), of Natrona Heights; two great-grandsons, Charlie and John Wineke; sisters, Dorothy Kijowski, Betty Ann (Chuck) Jack, and Rande Volek; two brothers, John (Elsa) Volek and Andre (Elaine) Volek; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Sacik, in 2014; five sisters, Frances Kaminski, Florence Heinold, Pauline Suriano, Ann Robinson and Marie Livengood; and four brothers, Henry, Joseph, Leo and Stanley Volek. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ford City Library or Project Joy at Premier Armstrong Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. The family would like to thank the staff at Premier Armstrong health center for their gentle care and kindness over the past four years.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at MANTINI FUNERAL HOME INC., Ford City. A blessing service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with Father Alan Grote. Interment will be in St. Francis of Paola Cemetery.
