Helen Shank

Helen Shank, 89, of Lower Burrell, passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, following her suffering a stroke. She was born July 7, 1927, in Barking, Pa., to the late Peter and Anna Menda Sabot, and was a lifelong resident of the local area. Mrs. Shank was a very active member of St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, Lower Burrell, where she was also a member of the church choir. She enjoyed gardening and was active with Burrellton Garden Club. She was a very active volunteer for the church and community activities. She loved cooking and baking in which she was very talented. She worked for Westinghouse and had also worked for PPG Glass in Creighton. She is survived by her son, Blaine A. (Cindy) Shank, of Wadsworth, Ohio; grandchildren, Justin (Laura) Shank and Scott (Breanne) Shank; great-grandchildren, Brody and Blakely Shank; brother, Joseph Sabot, of Upper Burrell; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Blaine S. Shank; brothers, Nicholas, Stanley, Walter, Frank, George and Peter Sabot; and sisters, Josephine Pomaybo, Stella Gates and Mary Triff.
Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until time of prayers of transfer at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Road at Alder St., Lower Burrell, followed by Christian funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. in St. Margaret Mary Church. Interment will follow in Greenwood Mausoleum, Lower Burrell.
