James Benton Obituary

James Roy Benton, 73, of Fisher, formerly of Kittanning, died Tuesday, April 19, 2016, in Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, Kittanning. Born April 28, 1942, in Kittanning, he was the son of the late Roy and Lena (Henry) Benton. He was a member of New Hope Church in Clarion. Prior to his retirement in 1992, he was the self-employed owner of Benton's Service Center, in West Deer Township. He was a Vietnam War veteran, having served in the Air Force. Mr. Benton loved the Steelers, Penguins, fishing, traveling and spending winters in Florida. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lauren Elizabeth Maniet. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Alice (Goldinger) Benton; son, Paul Benton (Kim), of Valencia; daughter, Amy Maniet (Tony), of Cranberry Township; grandchildren, Joshua Benton, Jamie Maniet, Jacob Benton and Michael Maniet; sister, Darlene Cornman, of Kittanning; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. until time of services at 7 p.m. Friday at the SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME, in Kittanning, with the Rev. Edward Walters and the Rev. Colin Koch co-officiating.

My deepest sympathy to you Alice and your entire family.I will always rememeber the great times we had with the battle of the barrel.I recall the time you and JIM,Jack Best and his wife and a couple more from WEST Deer VFD came to Highland Hose to party and it ended up with a shaving cream battle.What a nite that was. We became friends for life.God bless Jim and you and your family.We will see him again in heaven.
