James P. "Jim" Walker, 81, formerly of Apollo, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023, in Indiana, Pa., after spending the weekend surrounded by all of his loving family. Born July 9, 1941, in Kiski Township, he was a son of the late Willis Walker and Thelma (Bowser) Walker. Jim was a 1960 graduate of Apollo High School, and served our country with the United States Army. He worked in the finishing department for US Steel-Vandergrift Works for 27 years, retiring in 1993. Jim was a member of the Apollo Masonic Lodge and its Coudersport Consistory, and life member of the Spring Church Sportsmen's Club. He loved the outdoors, and in 2008, won the Strongland Tour De Trout award for the longest trout caught of the day. Jim also liked hunting. He was a skilled woodworker, and would create cabinets, crafts to sell and others items for his family and friends. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Virginia M. "Rene" (Andring) Walker, who passed away Sept. 1, 2021; brothers, Carl, Richard, Robert, William, Gary, Daniel and Dale Walker; and his sisters, Betty Ross, Sarah "Sally" Kennedy, Mona Jean Williamson, Mary Smith and Chrissy "Nellie" Porter. Jim is survived by his daughters, Brenda (Mike) Zinobile, of Huntington, Pa., and Laura (Mark Loudermilk) Louden, of Indiana, Pa.; son, Kevin (Jill) Walker, of Cranberry; grandchildren, Abbie (Drew) Knowles, Quinn and Emma Zinobile, Jacob, Benjamin and Joshua Louden; Noah, Colten and Mia Walker; John (Faith) Murphy and Nathan Loudermilk; great-grandchildren, Rhett and Wrenley Knowles; Kole and John Daniel Murphy; sisters, Judy Ferguson, of Apollo, Sandra "Diane" Kestner, of Apollo; and nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2023, in the CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2023, in the funeral home. Please join the family as they honor's Jim's life.
