Joan L. Butina

1944 - 2024

Joan L. (Zeltner) Butina, 79, of Latrobe, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024, at her home. Born Nov. 15, 1944, in Latrobe, she was a daughter of the late Raymond E. and Louise O. (Lemmon) Zeltner. Joan was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Youngstown, and its Rosary Altar Society. She was very dedicated to her sons, attending their events and getting them all to their practices. Joan loved her grandchildren and her cats. She enjoyed puzzles, bingo, watching westerns, and Pittsburgh sports. She loved being outdoors, gardening, or tending to her flowers. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Courtney and Jack Thomas Butina. Joan is survived by her husband of 56 years, Thomas J. Butina of Latrobe; six sons, Bryan T. Butina, and his wife Karen, of Bridgeville, Mark R. Butina, and his wife Lesley, of Warren, PA, David J. Butina of Oakland, MD, Chad E. Butina, and his wife Kristin, of Greensburg, Daniel J. Butina, and his wife Nobalee, of North Huntingdon, and Tommy Z. Butina and Rhonda Sofranko of Youngstown; two brothers, Richard L. Zeltner, and his wife Angela, of Kokomo, IN, and Dennis L. Zeltner of Latrobe; one sister, Carol A. Vanderspiegel, and her husband Robert, of Chesapeake, VA; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no public visitations. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 7th, 2024, at Sacred Heart Church, Youngstown. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Sacred Heart Church for a Mass to be said in Joan's memory.
