Born Jan. 8, 1924, in East Vandergrift, he lived in North Vandergrift all of his life. A chipper, he worked for Wean United Foundry, Vandergrift, retiring in 1981 after 37 years. Mr. Zemba was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, East Vandergrift, Slovak Club in North Vandergrift, and Jednota Association of the Slovak Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, playing the lottery and watching Pirate baseball. Survivors include three sons, Edward J. (Karen) Zemba of Anchorage, Alaska, Christopher M. (Jill) Zemba and Peter S. (Karen) Zemba, both of Allegheny Township; a daughter, Mrs. Elaine A. (Donald) Cook of Vandergrift; two brothers, Michael Zemba of Ford City and Wendolyn Zemba of Whitehouse, Tenn.; and three sisters, Helen Sanfronyos of Hyde Park, Margaret Peace of North Apollo and Bertha Sproul of Albany, Ga. Also surviving are four grandsons, Eddie Zemba, Justin Olbeter, Matthew Zemba and Zachary Zemba; a granddaughter, Jennifer Roberts; three great-grandsons, Anthony Roberts, Joseph Zemba and Edward Zemba; and a great-granddaughter, Jaden Lynn Zemba. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anastacia G. "Ann" Palucacos Zemba; his second wife, Mary Ann Zigus Zemba; his parents, Andrew J. and Catherine Rusnacik Zemba; two brothers, Frank and Andrew Zemba; a stepbrother, John Zemba; and two sisters, Agnes M. Zemba and Katherine L. Curdo. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and from 9 a.m. Wednesday until time of parting prayers at 9:30 a.m. in the GERALD J. MEDICE FUNERAL HOME, 1916 Moore Ave., North Apollo. Christian Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Kallock officiating. Burial will be in St. Gertrude Catholic Cemetery, Allegheny Township. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to VNA Hospice of Western PA, 127 Oneida Valley Road, Butler, PA 16001 or Meals on Wheels, 125 Queen St., Kittanning, PA 16201.
