Julia Talmadge Obituary

Julia C. Talmadge, 98, of Apollo, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, in Pine View Personal Care Facility, Vandergrift. Born Oct. 4, 1912, in East Vandergrift, she was a daughter of the late Alex and Anna (Tumas) Petrosky. A homemaker, Julia was a lifelong resident of the Apollo area. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Women of the Moose and Rebecca Lodge. Julia also enjoyed playing bingo, but her greatest love was her family, for whom she cared for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Talmadge, in 1988; a son, Leroy Talmadge Jr., in 2000; six brothers, Frank, John, Steve, Edward, Richard and Casmir Petrosky; and three sisters, Ann Bartoe, Veronica Kins and Evelyn Kaleda. Survivors include her daughter, Iris A. (Robert) Kiebler, of Washington Township; daughter-in-law, Jean Talmadge, of New Bethlehem; brothers-in-law, Larry (Bess) Talmadge, of New Kensington, and Bruce Talmadge, of Florida; sister-in-law, Dolores Petrosky; seven grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 12 to 4 p.m. Thursday in the CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY INC., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo, where services will be held at 4 p.m. with the Rev.
