Kay N. Shoop

1937 - 2022

Kay N. Shoop, 85, of Vandergrift, passed away Friday, Dec. 23, 2022. Born Dec. 4,1937, in Kelly Station, he was a son of the late Gerald M. Shoop and Mildred F. (Rising) Shoop. Kay was a graduate of Vandergrift High School, and worked as a molder's assistant for the former Wean United for almost 40 years. He was a member of North Apollo Church of God. Kay loved the outdoors, and enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. He was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. In addition to his parents, Kay was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra "Sandy" (Reichenbaugh) Shoop, who passed away in 2000; second wife, T-Vola J. (Hoch) Shoop, who passed away in 2018; a son, Scott A. Shoop; stepson, Roger Fryer; granddaughter, Aurora D. Cassity; great-granddaughter, Scarlett Shoop; brother, Michael L. Shoop; and his sister, Bonita "Bonnie" Hutchins. Kay is survived by his children, Kathy (Robert) Knell, of East Vandergrift, Kelly (Michelle) Shoop, of Brackenridge, Sherry (Gary) Cassity, of Orange, Va.; fiancee, Bonnie Reese, of Vandergrift; grandchildren, Zachary (Vicki) Knell, of Leechburg, Alyssa Knell, of Springdale, Kameron Shoop, of Slate Lick, Samantha (John Sylvester) Shoop, of New Kensington, Matthew (Jennifer) Cassity, of Virginia, Brandon (Heather) Cassity, of Virginia, Damian (Courtney) Shoop, of Gettysburg, Justine Shoop, of Gettysburg and Amber (Joseph) Valenzia, of Gettysburg; several great-grandchildren; sister, Deb (Norbert) Rossi, of Walla Walla, Wash.; and nieces and nephews. A private service with interment at Riverview Cemetery, Apollo, will be held at the convenience of the family.
