Lawrence Moman Obituary

Dr. Lawrence C. Moman Jr., 70, of Allegheny Township, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born March 27, 1935, in Jacksonville, Fla., to the late Lawrence C. Sr. and Josephine (King) Moman and lived in Allegheny Township for the past 35 years. Before that, he lived for a time in Penn Hills. Dr. Moman was a physician for 40 years, specializing in ear, nose and throat. He practiced in Pittsburgh from 1996 until retiring in 2003 and also practiced at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights; the former Citizens General Hospital, New Kensington, and Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, Kittanning. He was a Navy medic in Vietnam, of the Catholic faith and a member of the American Medical Association and Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. Dr. Moman graduated from Stanton High School, Jacksonville; Florida A&M University, Tallahassee, and Meharry Medical University, Nashville, Tenn., and also was associated with the University of Pittsburgh Eye and Ear Hospital and South Side Hospital. Surviving are sister Patricia Moman Bell (Gilbert Mayers), of Jacksonville; uncle the Rev. Charles (Flora) King, of Jacksonville; aunts Delores M. Hunter, of Hartsdale, N.Y., and Dorothy M. (Harold) Rodgers, of Ardmore, and companion Karen L. Sarnosky, with whom he made his home. Also predeceased by sister Sylvia E. Moman. Relatives and friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the DUSTER FUNERAL HOME INC., Tenth Avenue at Corbet Street, Tarentum, 724-224-1526, where blessing and a memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Wesley M. Mash officiating. Burial will be private. The family suggests contributions to the Joseph King Moman Scholarship Fund at St. Pius V Catholic School, 2110 Blue Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32209.
