Maeve Nolan Obituary

Dr. Maeve Nolan, 84, of Greensburg, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025. Maeve had been a pathologist at UPMC McKeesport Hospital from 1978 to 2011. She had been living peacefully in Greensburg since her retirement. She enjoyed the theater and the symphony in Pittsburgh on a monthly basis, as well as tending her garden at home. Maeve had filled in at St. Margaret's Hospital in Aspinwall for several years while on the staff at McKeesport. Maeve worked at McKeesport with Dr. Paat and Dr. Ramana Surampudi. Maeve was born in Castlerea, Roscommon, in Ireland, on Dec. 26, 1940. She emigrated to the USA in 1967 with her husband, Dr. Sean Nolan, who died in 2019. They lived in Youngstown, OH, before relocating to Pittsburgh in 1970. Maeve had lived in Greensburg since 1978, after spending two years in Wheeling, West Virginia, at her first hospital job. As many know, Maeve spent much of her spare time in her garden. She remained close to her relations in England and friends in Ireland throughout her years in America. She is survived by her son, Sean of Edgewood, PA; her nieces, Anna Hayes, Maria Mulrennan, and Siobhan Jennings; and her sister-in-law, Dolores Mulrennan. Maeve had been preceded in death by her brother, Eammon Mulrennan, in 1992. She has been a devoted member of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral since 1978. She was a graduate of University College Galway. Maeve was equally beloved by all who knew her in life, especially her longtime friends, Eugenia Missick, Nicki Ross, Mary Detorre, Sean Doyle of Dublin, and Tom and Gwen Dowling of Greensburg. We will all miss her very much. Family and friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m., on Thursday, May 8, 2025, in KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, 524 North Main St., Greensburg. Prayers of transfer will be held at 9 a.m., on Friday, May 9, 2025, in the funeral home. A funeral Mass for Maeve will be held at 9:30 a.m., on Friday, May 9, 2025, in Blessed Sacrament Cathedral 300 North Main St., Greensburg. Donations can be sent to Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in her name, or to the United Way. For online condolences and information, please visit www.kepplegraft.com.

I first met Maeve in 1967 when she arrived at St Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio to begin a medical internship. Through all the many years I knew her she lived a life "with malice for none and charity for all". A kind person. Godspeed, Maeve, "We'll meet again one sunny day".
