Margaret Smeltzer Obituary

Margaret "Peggy" Smeltzer, 82, of the Kepple Hill section of Parks, died Thursday, April 14, 2011, in her residence. Born May 16, 1928, in Vandergrift, she was the daughter of the late J. Ralph and Mary Walker Heilman Skinner and had lived in the area all of her life. Peggy was a graduate of Vandergrift High School in 1946, member of First Lutheran Church, where she was secretary for many years, and was also was an active member of the OBS and VFW Auxiliary of Lower Burrell. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, traveling and knitting. Survivors include her son, Geoffrey (Judy); and grandson, Jason Smeltzer, of the Scranton area; a daughter, Marna Smeltzer, of Arizona; and two grandsons, Jerret and Matthew Fischer. There will be a memorial service at 10 a.m. Saturday in First Lutheran Church, 101 Custer Ave., Vandergrift, with her pastor, Kevin Anderson, officiating. Arrangements are under the care of the DUNMIRE-KERR FUNERAL HOME INC., 244 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift, 724-568-3639.
