Mercedes Peltz Obituary

Mercedes Peltz, 79, of McKinney, Texas, passed away Friday, April 20, 2018, in Destin, Fla., surrounded by her immediate family. She spent the last years of her life in Texas to be near her grandchildren, but also cherished her time at the "beach" in Destin. Born in New Kensington, to Mercedes and Ralph Williams, she married her high school sweetheart, Phil Peltz, in 1962. They met and dated in 10th grade and completed their education, Mercedes nursing at Citizens General Hospital and Phil at Carnegie Mellon (Tech at that time). They had 63 wonderful, exciting and rewarding years together. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mercedes Thornton and Ralph and Mildred Williams; sister, Janice Krause; and daughters, Tamara and Dawn. She was able to work as a nurse, which she dearly loved, through much of her life while being a Super Mom. Reading was her go-to for relaxation, but family was her real passion. She is survived by her husband, Phil Peltz; daughters, Kim Peltz and Karin (Chris) Degelia; son, Michael Peltz; grandchildren, Blythe and Brenna Ward; Tanner, Preston and Alec Degelia; sister, Becky (Williams) Tomlin; nephew, Mike (Julie) Krause; and many friends who became extended family.
Her memorial celebration of life will be held in Dallas.

Phil and family, We were so sorry to just hear of your loss. Carol was a majorette with Mercedes; it was a lot of work but a good time too. We were looking forward to seeing you at our 60 th Class Reunion. You two had a wonderful life together. Mercedes was a kind and loving person. You all are in our thoughts and prayers.

Mrs. Peltz was one of the most generous and kind people I have ever met. She asked great questions and always left you with a smile on your face. She was a strong woman... And, funny too. She is, without a doubt, one of my mother's best friends. She always provided comfort in difficult times.

Mr.Peltz, Kim, Karin, and Michael - I'm thinking about you and your families as you absorb this incredible loss. Stay strong. Love you all.

Phil, I was your neighbor in Woodstone. Glen and I lived on Boone Drive-2 doors down from Ann Wright. Mercedes and I played in a bridge group started by Ann. I thought Mercedes was such a lovely person. I can relate to your loss since my husband of nearly 50 years died May 17, 2011. I was told about Mercedes by Donna Wedlake who is my dearest friend. She lives about 35 minutes away from Columbia, Tennessee in Hohenwald. Both time, family, and wonderful memories do help.

Dear Phil and Family,
Sad to see the news that Mercedes had passed away, I know you and the children will be lost without her, hopefully your precious memories will sustain you in the future. I have so many memories of our younger days with you both. Be assured she is at peace and resting in the arms of our Lord.
