Michael Leard Obituary

Michael Nelson Leard, 73, of Worthington, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2025, in Quality Life Services, Sarver. He was born Feb. 26, 1952, in Kittanning, son of Everett and Ethel (Barto) Leard. Mike was a member of the Slate Lick Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder, and was a member of the Freeport Odd Fellows. He retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, where he worked as a prevailing wage inspector. He enjoyed drawing and painting and studying history; he loved Christmas and going to garage sales. He was active with the Armstrong County Republican Committee for many years and was also active with the Jaycees. Surviving are his wife, Cheryl K. Leard of Worthington; one son, Christopher Leard of Worthington; two daughters, Anna (Joel) Shuster of Freeport and Melissa (Jeff) Whitfield of Clinton; one grandson, Luke Whitfield; one brother, Alan (Lori) Leard of Vandergrift; and one sister, Holly (Bob) Fletcher of Stow, OH. Michael was preceded in death by his parents. Friends will be welcomed from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at WELCH FUNERAL SERVICE LLC, 1032 Fourth Ave., Ford City, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2025, with the Reverend John Tirpak officiating.
