Michael B. 'Bud' Zerby, 84, of Washington Township, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2025, in UPMC East, Monroeville. Born Feb. 24, 1941, in Washington Township, he was the son of the late Herman Zerby and Martha (Minarik) Zerby. Bud was a 1959 graduate of Washington Township High School and a graduate of Penn State New Kensington. He worked for NUMEC and as the maintenance manager at General Tire in Jeannette. While living in Montana, he worked in maintenance at Yellowstone National Park and operated Bud Zerby River Fishing in Ennis, Montana. Bud was a member of the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, the Washington Township Police Force, the Vandergrift Sportsmen Association, the Heath Township Sportsmen's Club in Sigel, the Community Church of Pine Run, and coached Little League baseball with Washington Township. While in Montana, he was a member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Ennis and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Bud was an avid fly fisherman and loved hunting and outdoor activities. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda C. (Young) Zerby, who passed away on May 14, 2016; sister, Amy D. Bush; and his in-laws, Bob and Connie Young. Bud is survived by his daughter, Lorinda J. 'Rindy' Learn, of Oklahoma Borough; sons, Michael Lee (Loretta) Zerby, of St. Michael, and Stephen Scott (Mary) Zerby, of Boyertown; grandchildren, David, Scott, and Bryan Learn; Michael Jr. (Rachel) Zerby and Jacob Zerby; Zachary Zerby, Tiffany Zerby (Alexander Cushman), and Logan Zerby; step-grandchildren, Randy Godshall and Jason Price; great-grandchildren, Aric, Kileigh, Quintin, Charlotte, and Matthew; brother-in-law, William 'Bill' Bush, of Sarver; sisters-in-law, Mary Alice Young, of Baden, and Joyce (Dr. Frank) Cignetti, of Washington Township; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025, in the CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY INC., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025, with Pastor Joshua Strunk officiating. Private interment in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell, at the convenience of the family.
