Norma Jean Davis, 74, of Pennsboro, W.Va., and Wasilla, Alaska, departed this life Monday, Oct. 25, 2021, at the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center, Palmer, Alaska. Norma was born Jan. 24, 1947, in Troy, W.Va., a daughter of the late Robert Irving and Alice Lelia (Knisley) Rowe. She was a proud graduate of Weston High School, Class of 1964. She attended Parkersburg Community College, as well as Glenville State College and earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting. She began her working career in 1967 for Air Products and Chemicals, working in Parkersburg, W.Va., and Creighton. During her tenure, Norma served as a sales representative, office manager, and as the senior account manager before her retirement in 2004. Norma was an avid reader and lifelong learner. She spent many hours reading and researching family genealogy. She was a worldwide traveler and camper, and greatly enjoyed working on the family farm, which was established in 1814. Norma was very active in her community and state. She was a member of the Squarenaders and the Log Cabin Squares western square dance clubs, Palatines to America, Harrisville Lions Club, and member of the Ritchie County Historical Society. Because of the work Norma did to restore the Pennsboro Depot in 2009, she was awarded the distinguished West Virginia History Hero Award by the state of West Virginia. She was a clay district director of the Ritchie County Farm Bureau, participator in the West Virginia Farm Bureau's resolutions committees, member of Ritchie County Republican Committee, West Virginia Second Senatorial Republican, West Virginia Seventh Delegate Republican Executive Committees, and was a member of the Constitution Advocates. She has served as the treasurer of both the Wilbur Community Cemetery Inc. and the Wilbur Community Club, and Norma was very active in the Ritchie area spay-neuter outreach and helped the Parkersburg and Ritchie County Humane Societies for many years. Following the loss of her late husband, Phil, Norma moved to an area in Alaska that was dear to them both. She became a volunteer for Thrifters Rock of Wasilla as well as attended the Church on the Rock of Wasilla. In Alaska, Norma continued her love of photography, as well as started fishing as a hobby and greatly looked forward to ice fishing in the upcoming months. She is survived by her son, Alan R. Davis, and wife, Melanie, of Pennsboro, W.Va.; her grandsons, Aidan R. Davis and Adam R. Davis, both of Pennsboro, W.Va.; her sister, Judy (Rowe) Taylor, of West Port, Wash.; brother-in-law, Robert Larry Davis, of Pennsboro, W.Va.; nieces, Michelle DeMetro (Tony), of Stockport, Ohio; Laura Watts of Parkersburg, W.Va., and nephew, Daniel Davis, of Parkersburg, W.Va. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Phil Davis, in 2018, and her beloved grandson, Andrew R. Davis, in 2015. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021, at MCCULLOUGH-ROGERS FUNERAL HOME, Pennsboro, W.Va., with Chad Kopshina officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Wilbur Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. While attending the funeral and visitation, masks will be required to be worn while inside the funeral home.
