Born Aug. 8, 1914, in Leechburg, he lived at his present home for 80 years.
He was a 1932 graduate of Leechburg High School, where he was a basketball player.
Before retiring in 1976, he worked 42 years on the No. 45 annealing and pickle line, finishing department, Allegheny Ludlum Steel, West Leechburg works.
Mr. Guagnano was a member of Christ the King Parish, Marconi Lodge, Elks, Retirees of the United Steel Workers of America and Leechburg Volunteer Fire Company, all in Leechburg, and the Western Pennsylvania and Armstrong County Firemen?s Associations.
He enjoyed singing, dancing and reading.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Eleanor C. Logero Guagnano; a son, Gregory A. (Alexis) Guagnano of Annandale, Va.; and a sister, Stella Oldfield of Needam, Mass.
Also surviving is a grandson, David R. Sands of Princeton, N.J.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Phillip John Guagnano and Phillip Anthony Guagnano; his parents, John and Rose Catalino Guagnano; and a sister, Augustine Phillips.
Friends will be welcomed by his family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at CLAWSON?S, Second at Main Street, Leechburg, where parting prayers of transfer will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Thursday. Christian Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Parish. Burial will follow in St. Catherine Cemetery, Gilpin. The Elks will have a service at 7 tonight in the funeral home, followed by an 8 p.m. service by the firemen. Visit at www.clawsonfuneralhome.com.
