Richard A. Ashbaugh Sr.

1929 - 2016

Richard A. Ashbaugh Sr., 87, of Tarentum, passed away, Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at Good Samaritan Hospice of Concordia, Cabot, following a lengthy illness. Born in Leechburg Feb. 20, 1929, a son of the late Albert and Margaret (Hopkins) Ashbaugh, he lived most of his life in Tarentum, where he was a maintenance supervisor at Wulfrath Industries, formerly A.P. Green, in Tarentum. Richard was a graduate of Leechburg High School, in 1947. He loved reading western novels and watching classic movies, he also enjoyed music, doing woodworking and cabinetmaking. He is survived by two sons, Richard A. (Barbara) Ashbaugh Jr., of the Bloomfield section of Pittsburgh, and Robert T. Ashbaugh, with whom he lived, in Tarentum; two grandsons, Zachary Ashbaugh, of St. Augustine, Fla., and Tyler Ashbaugh, of the Bloomfield section of Pittsburgh; a sister, Martha Bafik, of Saxonburg; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, June M. (Conner) Ashbaugh, in 2003; and a brother, Edward Ashbaugh.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, in the DUSTER FUNERAL HOME INC., 347 East 10th Ave., Tarentum, PA 15084, 724-224-1526, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment will follow in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.
