Richard Painter Obituary

Richard C. Painter, 75, of Mamont, Washington Township, died Friday, May 11, 2007. He was born Sept. 13, 1931, to the late Allen and Mabel (Branthoover) Painter and also was predeceased by a son, Douglas Painter, and a brother, Gerald Painter. He was a partner with his brother Ronald for more than 50 years in the Painter Brothers Roofing and Painting Co. and previously was an electrician for the Pennsylvania Railroad, Pitcairn. He babysat and was known as "Pappy" to many children. He was a member and trustee of Poke Run Presbyterian Church, Apollo. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports, was an avid hunter, a Korean War Army veteran and a 15-year member of the Salem Golf League and loved spending time on the family farm. Beloved husband of 54 years of Miriam (Geiger) Painter. Loving father of Barbi Findley and husband Tim, of Saltsburg, and Richard and wife Marcie and Nancy Goodiski and husband Vinnie, of Apollo. Also survived by his grandchildren, who were the love of his life, Tricia and husband Mike, Brea, Bill, Tim, Lindsay, Blake, Meghan and Nicole. Also survived by great-grandson Logan. Brother of Harold and wife Evelyn, of Murrysville, and Ronald, of Delmont. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Mr. Painter's family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday at the BASH-NIED FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, 724-468-8381. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Poke Run Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Peter Goetschius officiating. Interment will follow in Poke Run Cemetery.
