Richard A. Zagar

1959 - 2025

Richard A. Zagar, 66, of New Alexandria, passed away Friday, Sept. 26, 2025, at his home. Born May 2, 1959, in Irwin, he was the son of the late Alvin and Adeline K. (Waselesky) Zagar. Rich was a member and active volunteer at the Logos Christian Fellowship, Loyalhanna. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, and had been a longtime fireman and EMT in the Irwin and North Huntington areas. He also enjoyed working at Lazy Acres Campground in New Alexandria. Rich loved quads and motorcycles and was an active member and coordinator of the PA chapter of 2nd Thief Motorcycle Ministry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nieces, Joanne Brewer, Patricia Zagar, and Elaine Zagar. Rich is survived by his wife, Gayle L. (Truxal) Zagar, of New Alexandria; three children, Donald Zagar (Lyndsy), Jessica Zagar, and Vanessa Zagar; his stepdaughter, Amanda Clemons, of New Alexandria; three grandchildren, Madeline, Jackson, and Braxton; five step-grandchildren, Tanner, Hunter, Kohle, McKenna, and Bohden; one brother, Donald A. Zagar (Carol), of Murrells Inlet, SC; one sister, Dolores Brewer, of Murrells Inlet, SC; and his nephew, James Brewer (Sharon). Rich's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of the doctors, nurses, hospice nurses, family, and friends who cared for him so well throughout his illness. Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025, at the LOPATICH-BRINKER FUNERAL HOME LLC, 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A celebration of Rich's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, at Logos Christian Fellowship, 1317 Latrobe Derry Road, Loyalhanna.
