Robert Dietrick Obituary

Robert Jerome Dietrick, 94, of Greensburg, passed away peacefully from this life with faith in Jesus Christ and hope of eternal salvation on Friday, June 20, 2025. He was born in Hastings on Sept. 16, 1930, to Elmer J. and M. Louise (Buck) Dietrick. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 72 years, Marjorie Ann (Swope) Dietrick. He is also survived by his five children, Ann (Barry) McNeely, Joseph (Diane) Dietrick, Elizabeth (George) Nicksich, Patricia (J. Daniel) Oeler, and Pamela (David) Repko; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his brother, William (Joanne) Dietrick; and his sister, Janet Yuknavich. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lewis Dietrick; two sisters, Dolores Dietrick and Florence Ratchford; and two brothers-in-law, George Yuknavich and James Ratchford. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Hank during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Patton High School and Penn State University, where he earned an engineering degree. He retired from Asea Brown Boveri as a quality control engineer. Robert was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. He was a member and 4th degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #1480 and the Jeannette Seton Assembly #914. He was also a member of the VFW Post No. 33 and the American Legion, Post No. 981. He volunteered countless hours at Saint Emma Retreat House where he was affectionately known as 'Bob the Builder.' He immersed himself in his Catholic faith and wrote two books, "Joseph" and "Magi." The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff at Newhaven and Penn Hospice for their excellent care of their father. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton St., Greensburg. Prayers will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2025, in the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg. Knights of Columbus #1480 will have a prayer service Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Emma's Monastery, 1001 Harvey Ave., Greensburg, PA 15601, or Newhaven Court Life Stories, 100 Freedom Road, Greensburg, PA 15601. bachafh.com.
