Robert L. Ferrara

Robert Louis "Bob" "Salts" Ferrara, 92, of Vandergrift, passed away on Monday, Oct. 6, 2025. Born June 7, 1933, in Vandergrift, he was a son of the late Sabatino Ferrara and Mary (Petrarca) Ferrara. Bob was a graduate of Vandergrift High School and proudly served our country with the United States Army. He was a skilled basketball player in his younger years and continued to play at the gym to this day. Bob was the well-known window clerk at the U.S. Post Office in Vandergrift for 35 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church. Bob also enjoyed golfing, bowling, going to the gym, reading, gardening, and going for walks. He most loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Norma J. (Raymond) Ferrara, who passed away on Dec. 19, 2019; grandson, Stephen Shaner, who passed away in 2017; brothers, Louis and Dominic Ferrara; and his sisters, Sarah Jagodrinski and Eleanor Myer. Bob is survived by his children, Deborah A. Little of Erie; son, David (Stephanie) Ferrara of Vandergrift; granddaughter, Ann (Thomas) Fabrizio of Erie; great-grandchildren, Nina Strickland and Gino Fabrizio; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025, in St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church, 303 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift, PA 15690, with Father Alan N. Polczynski as celebrant. Private interment in St. Gertrude Cemetery Mausoleum, Vandergrift, at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the BRADY-CURRAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., Vandergrift.
