Robert E. Rose Jr., 64, of Tarentum, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born June 15, 1949, in Harrison Township. A son of the late Robert E. and Betty M. (Morford) Rose Sr., Robert was raised in Freeport and lived the past 25 years in the Tarentum area. He was a van driver/supply clerk for Highlands School District for 36 years. He was a Vietnam veteran, having served with the Air Force, a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Tarentum, and the Brackenridge American Legion. Robert attended Freeport High School and enjoyed Sunday rides, country music, gardening and especially enjoyed being with family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Gwendoline E. "Gwen" (Caley) Rose; stepchildren, Keith Matticks, Clive Matticks, Brian Stacey and Stephen Stacey, all of England, and Gary P. (Ronda) Stacey, of Lower Burrell; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, all in England, and four step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren, in Pennsylvania; a sister, Darla J. (John A.) Voyten, of Vandergrift; brother, Cliff J. Rose, of Upper Burrell Township; a godson, Shane Rose, of Upper Burrell Township; two nephews, Brandon Burns and fiancee, Jessica, of Leechburg, and Donovan (Danielle) Burns, of Vandergrift; and two great-nephews, Xavier and Chase Burns. Robert's wife, Gwen, would like to thank everyone for their prayers and cards as there are too many to mention by name. Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the DUSTER FUNERAL HOME INC., 10th Ave. at Corbet St., Tarentum, 724-224-1526, where services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, with Minister of Visitation Pamela J. Bonnett officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell, with full military honors by the Brackenridge American Legion and the Tarentum VFW. Visit
