Robert Ventorini Obituary

Robert Anthony Ventorini, 81, of New Kensington, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2023, at home, with his wife at his side. Mr. Ventorini was born July 18, 1942, in Tarentum, the son of the late Sesto Ventorini and Agnes Demharter Ventorini. Following Bob's graduation in1960 from St. Joseph High School, he attended John Carroll University and went on to serve his country for eight years in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. While stationed in Germany and the Far East, Bob served as a distinguished calibration technician. He also worked on Hawk Missiles at White Sands Missile Range and later became a calibrations instructor at Aberdeen Proving Ground, where he taught Marines and the NATO Forces. Following his honorable discharge, Bob attended Rosedale Tech Institute and was employed at Freeport Transport, Freeport Terminals and later at J&S Trucking Company as a diesel mechanic and shop manager. Bob was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, New Kensington, where for many years he served as Sacristan, usher and instructor for incoming altar servers. He was also secretary of St. Vincent de Paul Society and a volunteer for both the Westmoreland and St. Joseph Church Food Banks. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a participant in the Outstanding Human Service Organization Award in the Greensburg Diocese. Bob derived his greatest joy in life from his family. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He spent many good times with his family camping and fishing while trying to hook the elusive Muskellunge. Bob was able to capture many precious memories of family and wildlife as a passionate photographer. He also freely shared his gardening skills with friends and neighbors. Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joanne Naydeck Ventorini. Bob and Joanne began their love story in high school but followed their own separate career paths. After six years, they met up again, married and had two beautiful sons. Bob is survived by his two sons, Robert (Christine), of Penn Hills, and Terry (Amy), of Murrysville. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Samuel, Abby and Noah Ventorini, all of Murrysville. He leaves behind his favorite in-laws, Margaret Krajci (Jerry), Denise Bradley (Keith) and Michael Naydeck (Sherry Ann), and his very best friend, Joe Doutt, as well as many nieces and nephews. Bob was a kind, giving helper and loved by them all. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023, in the JOSEPH J. CARDARO FUNERAL HOME, 1125 Kenneth Ave., New Kensington, 724-337-3325. A service conducted by the Knights of Columbus 1381 will be held at 6 p.m. in the funeral home. Prayers of transfer will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2023, in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, New Kensington. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Hope Catholic Cemetery, Tarentum, with full military honors conducted by the Vandergrift Honor Guard. www.cardarofuneralhome.com.

Just a gentle giant with a big heart. Bob spent a lifetime helping others. His laugh will never be forgotten. His smile was always present. Big loss for us, big gain for Heaven. God bless Joanne, Bobby, and Terry and their families at this difficult time.
