Rowena J. Gbur

1933 - 2025

Rowena Joyce (Fulbright) Gbur, 92, of Russellton, West Deer Township, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2025, at AHN Wexford. She was born Jan. 30, 1933, in Oak Ridge, MO, to the late Dock and Marie (McLane) Fulbright. She has lived in West Deer for the past 72 years. Rowena was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Lyndora. She worked at the Pentagon in Washington, DC, for a few years as a clerk and typist prior to her marriage, and then after she married, she co-owned and operated Gbur's Market in Russellton for many years. Rowena loved her flower gardening, and though her priority was always her family, she was an amazing mother/grandmother. Survivors include her children Joseph (Janice-Strenk) Gbur III, of Liburn, GA; Philip Gbur of Alexandria, VA; and Justina M. (Donald) Fiedler of Economy; and grandchildren Jeffrey A. Gbur, Madeline M. Fiedler, and Cora Joyce Fiedler. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Gbur Jr., on Jan. 31, 2004; and her siblings, Marjorie Vernette Martin, Acie D. "Bud" Fulbright, and Martha Roesch. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2025, in SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025, with the Rev. Yurii Bobko officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Deer Creek Cemetery, Harmar Township.
