Samuel Intrieri Obituary

Samuel Modesto Intrieri, 79, a lifelong resident of Vandergrift, peacefully passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025, at Allegheny General Hospital. Born May 30, 1945, in New Kensington, he was the son of the late Joseph R. and Lena Demma Intrieri. He was a member of the St. Gertrude Catholic Church. Samuel was in the Class of 1963, the first graduating class of Kiski Area School District. In 1967, he graduated from Clarion State College, where he belonged to the Alpha Gamma Phi fraternity that he continued, along with his family, to support and attend many gatherings and festivals at Clarion University. Retiring in June 2004 from Kiski Area School District, he taught for 37 years, mainly teaching social studies in the high school. He will be remembered for coaching basketball for many years along with taking the team to the PIAA State Finals in 1986. He was a lifelong supporter of sports at Kiski, and it continued as he raised children and supported his grandchildren in Kiski sports, concerts, and other events. In 2017, he was inducted into the Kiski Area Sports Hall of Fame. He was a member of the former Sons of Italy and also the Slovak Club in East Vandergrift. Samuel loved time with his family, sitting by the pool, and listening to oldies music. He also enjoyed meeting the crew, his cherished friends, for their daily morning coffee at McDonalds where they would try to solve world problems. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Deborah Intrieri, whom he married on March 3, 1973; his children, Ursula (Donald Polyak) Rosenberry of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Kristen (Daniel) Smith of Allegheny Township, and Dr. Joseph (Jessica) Intrieri of Harrisburg; and six grandchildren, Ava Rosenberry, Wesley Rosenberry, Carson Smith, Isaac Smith, Mia Intrieri, and Sophia Intrieri. Family and friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 30, at DUNMIRE-KERR & ROWE FUNERAL HOME INC., 244 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2025, in St. Gertrude Catholic Church, 303 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift, with Rev. Father Alan Polczynski officiating.
