Sonia R. Shumaker

1963 - 2025

Sonia Renee Shumaker, 62, of Jeannette, loving mother and devoted grandmother, passed peacefully on Monday, Oct. 6, 2025, at The Westmoreland Manor from complications of dementia. She was born in Jeannette on March 26, 1963, to Alvin C. and the late Charlotte (McDonnell) Shumaker. Sonia attended Jeannette High School and worked at Walmart and Target, and was the friendly face of the deli at the Rt. 66 Shop and Save. She had a compassionate heart, and her favorite thing was spending time with her grandsons, whom she adored. Her family mattered most, and she will be deeply missed by her children, Robert T. McDonald and Stephanie Shumaker; grandsons, Chris and Luka McDonald; sister, Alicia (Bill) Hazen; brother, "Skip" Shumaker; nieces, Nicole and Jennifer; nephew, Joshua; and dear friend, Dana Nesbit.
