Sophie Hamilton

Sophie Hamilton, 93, of Lower Burrell, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, in her residence. She was born Dec. 25, 1918, in Indianola, to the late Anton and Katrin Dulych Olearchick and was a life resident of the Valley having previously resided in Springdale and Indianola before moving to Lower Burrell in 1937. Sophie was a clerk and processor for McDonald Plaid Stamps in Lower Burrell retiring in 1970. She had previously been a salesperson and manager of Mac Village Shop, was a custom designer, instructor for Caputo Dance Studio and a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. She was a life member of the VFW Post 92 Ladies Auxiliary and the Post's Historian. An avid bowler, she was a member of the Top Cats Bowling League since 1970 and enjoyed reading, cards, traveling, sewing and volunteer work. Survivors include her son, Dr. Daniel Lee Hamilton, of Frederick, Md.; daughter, Karen Sun Hamilton, with whom she made her home; grandchildren, Elaina Marie Hamilton, Cheri L. Stinson, Pamela G. (Craig) Muraski, Kymberlee C. (Jeff) Hills, Raymond Wasilowski, Dr. Eric Wasilowski, Audrey (Matt) Noll, Susan L. (Brian) Hart, Virginia L. (Chris) Jago and Victoria L. "Vickey" (Andy) DeVriendt; 18 great-grandchildren, two stepgreat-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; and sister, Nellie Harsacky, of Springdale. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William S. Hamilton II; a son, William Shiloh Hamilton III; grandson, Robert S. Hamilton; great-granddaughter, Brooklee Hart; and brothers, Michael, Anthony, Frank, Albert, Joseph, Stanley and John Olearchick. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Elaine Hower. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. The VFW Ladies Auxiliary will conduct services at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. http://www.RusiewiczFH.com.
