Stephen Sadecky Obituary

Stephen Michalek Sadecky, 81, of Sanford, FL, previously of Tarentum, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025, following a brave decade-plus battle with Parkinson's disease. Steve was born Nov. 14, 1943, in Pittsburgh, to the late Joseph and Mary (Solar) Sadecky. Steve graduated from Tarentum High School in 1961. He was a great man, otherwise known as a master of all trades. He utilized his considerable mechanical talents in running the Sinclair gas station in the early 1960s and, afterward, owning his own garage "Sanford and Sadecky" in West Tarentum. He was also employed by Pullman Standard of Butler and AP Green in West Tarentum. Steve welcomed the challenge of restoring salvaged vehicles, home items, and anything that appeared beyond repair, bringing them all back to life. Steve was also an accomplished scuba diver. He enjoyed attending a good flea market, looking for treasure from other people's trash. He will be remembered and cherished for his unique outlook on life. As a father, he taught his children to greet everyone with a hello and a smile and to ask how that person was doing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marie; son, Steve; sister, Martha Dillon; and brothers, Camille, Bela, William, and Joseph Sadecky. He is survived by his daughter, Cathy (Steve) Ruzicka; son, Joshua; brothers, Carl (Joan) Sadecky and Clement Sadecky; sister, Elaine Curley; stepdaughter, Erin McNichol; stepsons, Jeff, Scott, and Marc; granddaughter, Christy; and great-grandchildren, Summer, Riley, and Bobby; and numerous step-grandchildren. A private family gathering and blessing service will be held in DUSTER FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 347 E. 10th Ave., Tarentum, 724-224-1526. Burial will be private in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. VISIT: dusterfh.com.

The class of 1961 was my class but at a different school. We likely passed at Henry's Ice Cream Bar or Tarena or the Sunset Drive-In. Maybe we parked next to each other at Eat and Park in the Heights. Sounds like someone I would have liked as much as Bub LeFever, or Bear Magneta, Jeff Juris or even Fred Corsi. RIP!

Jim from Durham, NC formerly of Springdale High.
