Dr. Steve V. Jastrzembski, 69, Trabuca Canyon, Calif., formerly of Allegheny Township, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, in Cedars Sinai Hospital, Calif., after a brief illness. He was born Aug. 27, 1939, in Vandergrift, son of the late Steve and Sophie (Poleski) Jastrzembski. He was a 1957, graduate of Vandergrift High School. He went on to the University of Pittsburgh were he was a standout football player which included being drafted by three professional football teams, making the All-East Team and playing in the East-West Shrine Game, in 1963. He went on to graduate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry in 1965, where he began his career of 25 years in the Army. Retiring at the rank of Colonel, he then went on to spend 10 years working as a pediatric dentist with Aramco Oil Company in Saudi Arabia. For the past eight years to present, he was working as a pediatric dentist with the Army stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a life member of the Vandergrift VFW Post 566. He was an avid hunter, dedicated husband, father and doctor and loved by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Louise (Cignetti) Jastrzembski, of California; three daughters, Kristin Jastrzembski and Kelley Jastrzembski, of California, and Kimberly Jastrzembski of Louisiana; two brothers, Frank, of Allegheny Township, and Chester, of Lower Burrell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Stefanik; and a nephew, Michael Stefanik. Arrangements are pending at the convenience of his family in California. Memorial services will be held by the Vandergrift VFW Post 566 and announced at a later date.
