W.H. (Sandy) Malcolm Jr., 91, of Vandergrift, passed away Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, in his residence. Born June 8, 1931, in Indiana, he was the son of the late W.H. (Red) and Clara Brayshaw Malcolm. A veteran of the Army, he had owned and operated Malcolm's Clothing Store in Vandergrift for 60 years. A member of the Vandergrift Presbyterian Church, Vandergrift Lions Club and Apollo Elks, he was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in business. He enjoyed golfing, reading and walking. Survivors include two daughters, Claudia Malcolm, of Vandergrift, and Becky (Jay) Zahumensky, of Kepple Hill; five grandchildren, Jill (Ben) Dicken, Erin (Paddy) Ferris, Evan Strellec, Daniel Strellec and Jason Zahumensky; along with seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Chrystal B. Bartoe Malcolm in 2018; and his daughter, Jennifer Phillips in 2019. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. in the DUNMIRE-KERR & ROWE FUNERAL HOME INC., 244 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift. Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
