Walter E. Becker Jr.

Walter Edward Becker Jr., 83, of Upper St. Clair, peacefully passed away Sunday, June 17, 2018. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sylvia Becker, where they now join, together forever, in heaven. He was the loving father of Lisa (Bob) Lawhon and Craig (Kim) Becker; proud grandfather of Matthew and Anna Grace Lawhon, and Ryan, Lucianna, and Ava Becker; and son the late Walter and Mary Ailene Becker. Walt was a graduate of Westinghouse High School. On completion of military service, and after receiving a bachelor of chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, he went to work in research at ALCOA. He later completed a master of science degree and began a 35-year career at Mobay, now Bayer, where he retired as vice president of logistics. After retirement, he was a volunteer consultant with SCORE. Walt was the author of two books in the area of plastics and numerous industry journal articles. He was a member of St. Clair Country Club, avid golfer and supporter of the Pitt Panthers and the Steelers.
Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUERS. Visitation with family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 29, at Beinhauers, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, 724-941-3211. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Holy Child Parish, 212 Station St., Bridgeville, 15017. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
