William Kirkland

William "Jim" Kirkland, 84, of Lower Burrell, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025. He was the son of the late Paul and Ruth (McCollum) Kirkland. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Kirkland; and son, Robert Kirkland. James worked as a custodian and school bus driver for the Burrell School District for many years. He started volunteering with the Lower Burrell Volunteer Fire Department No. 3 in 1962, served as chief for a few years, and ultimately became a lifetime member. In 2022, he celebrated his 60th anniversary with the fire department. James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, enjoying every moment he could with his beloved family. He had a heart of gold and touched the lives of many. He is survived by his son, James (Karrie) Kirkland, of Ohio; daughter, Nancy (Joe) Bielata, of Lower Burrell; daughter-in-law, Vicki Kirkland, of Vandergrift; six grandchildren, Daniele Kirkland, Joe Bielata, Bo (Kayla) Kirkland, Jamie (Kyle) Gregory, Connor Kirkland, and Cooper Kirkland; and 11 great-grandchildren. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 p.m. until the time of service at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 8, 2025, at FRANK F. GIGLER FUNERAL HOME INC., Robert P. Karish, Supervisor, 2877 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, PA 15086, with Pastor Harold Mele Jr. officiating. A fireman service will be held during visitation at 7 p.m.
