We were so shocked and saddened to hear about Alex. We remember him when he was a young Scout in Puyallup - a cute little blonde haired boy, so full of energy!

I would just like to extend my thoughts and prayers to Alex's family. I went to Emerald Ridge High School with Alex and graduated the same year he did. I did not know him personaly, but we did share the same group of friends. He was a wonderful person, loving funny, caring and just a joy to be around. He made everyone smile that he spoke to, never caused trouble. Alex was just an all around guy and will be loved and missed by everyone that his heart has touched. I am very sorry for your loss, my prayers are with you.

To Mr. & Mrs. Minneman & Family,
My Alex (Samuels) was home on Friday from college when we were watching the news. Shock and grief suddenly struck us by the news on TV. We actually had to call Art Wegner to see if we actually heard what we didn't want to hear. Alex (Samuels) shed tears in disbelief. They grew up in scouts together. I remember your Alex from scouts and have a happy memory with both Alex's in our Suburban going to a Scout activity and were cutting up, as usual. My Alex is so very, very sadden by your loss and the loss of a great life. Alex (Samuels) talked a lot about his memories of your Alex the rest of this weekend and is deeply affected of this tragic loss as is Cliff & myself. He (Alex) wants you to know that his love & prayers are with all of you, as well as Cliff's & mine.

Dear Dick, Andrea, and Robb,
We were in Poulsbo Christmas shopping when we saw Zach on the phone, waving us across the street. I knew immediately that something was very wrong~we cried, huddled together on the sidewalk not believing the news.
We foundly remember Alex's Eagle project in the snow, moving Fruitcake Lodge, rebuilding the COPE building, and helping build all 3 pole buildings with Alex. He worked with energy and a smile on his face.
Alex was a good friend to all of us and always knew how to have fun. If Alex wasn't at an event, it seemed kind of dull.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
Alex was a wonderful young man. The laughter he shared with us, I will never forget. We were the honored ones to camp with him in Scouts. I will never forget his smile. He had a big heart just like his Dad. I know he will be missed so very much. He will be in ours hearts forever.
To Meet In Heaven
To meet in heaven! How sweet the thought
When life's short years are past,
No more to weep, no more to part
To meet in heaven at last
To meat in heaven! O blessed thought
All care all suffering o'er
Meet in the mansion of the bles't
And love forevermore.
To meet in heaven around the throne
Of him who dies to save,
Be this our hope, our anxious care,
To meet beyond the grave.
      Amen

Dear Minneman Family,
I was at Ocean Shores this past weekend with my family when I heard about Alex. My youngest daughter asked why I was crying, and I told her that the boy/man on t.v. was in my 6th grade class. I told her about the quick-witted humor Alex provided on a daily basis, and how I worked with him on his organization and follow through as a student. I continued that my reward as a teacher was the day Alex and his mom, Andrea stopped by to see me a few years later at Ridgecrest. He was happy, healthy, and on a great road academically. If I remember right, he was 14 and had matured so much in 2 years. When I saw Alex, I told him about his funniest 6th grade moment--when he got a new haircut that stood straight up, geled it to the max, and told me he looked like Bart Simpson.....Andrea--I still(yes, 10 years later) have the pot holders you made me at the end of the year, I use them every day. I still have the angel embroidery that you made me and both you and Alex signed the back. Your family touched me and it is people like you that keep me in education. I pray for Alex and your family...Kris Njos

Alex was my young friend and employee. He always did more than he was asked and always surprised us with his cheerfulness and funny ways. God bless you, Alex and parents. We at EC will miss you so much. I don't know where I'll find two guys to replace you, or a friend that was so interesting!

Andrea, Dick and Robb: Alex certainly left a wonderful legacy to his family and to the world during his short life! I want you to know that I deeply share your sorrow. What comfort it is to know that Alex was "with" the Lord in eternity while he was "in" this world - and to know that he is now "with" Jesus in "eternity". No parent could hope for more. Myrna and I send our love and wish you and your family peace in Christ in the days ahead.

Friends,
Words cannot begin to describe the sorrow and the shock we are all feeling. The many smiles Alex brought us, even as we shook our heads at his youthful antics. The pride we felt at his Eagle COH, the leadership shown in the OA and the tremendous man he became reflect his committed loving family and strong self respect. Although we'll never know why, his spirit and service must be needed to a larger degree than mere mortals can understand. Matt insists there are dock and pole barn projects planned in the Promised Land. We can only send our love and heart felt condolences. Alex is a man who will always remain in our hearts and our thoughts.
Love, Ellen, Matt, Eric, Paula, Tom & Bill
