Passed away peacefully among loved ones on December 14th, 2023. Billie was born in Seattle on June 6th, 1928 to Florence and William Grobey. The family eventually moved to Tacoma where she graduated from Lincoln High School. She met the love of her life on a blind date and married him on October 31st, 1947. Yes, on Halloween. They wanted the associated pastor to marry them and had to wait until the lead Pastor was on vacation and the church was available. 2023 would have been 76 years.

Her compassion for people led her to serve many charities including the Muscular Dystrophy Association, The American Cancer Society ( our family created the cancer walk in Puyallup after having participated in the Tacoma walk for many years ), The Puyallup Valley Volunteers and much more. She sewed wheelchair bags to donate to nursing homes and crocheted small hats and donated them to the Neonatal Intensive Care Units at local hospitals. She was always available to help with any PTA function or church event.

Billie is preceded in death by her devoted husband Lowell Jack Smith Jr. and her daughter Barbara Ann VanDusen. She is survived by her four other children, Sandra L. White, Jacquelyn Smith Kenyon, Diana L. Smith and Lowell Jack Smith III. Billie was blessed with and very proud of her 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a very recent great, great grandson. We will all miss her very much.

The funeral service and reception will held at Mountain View Lutheran Church, Edgewood WA on January 14th, 2024 at 3pm. Billie wished in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Mountain View Lutheran Church property fund as she loved the beautiful landscaping.
