CHARLOTTE JOHNSTON Obituary

Charlotte Hill Johnston October 27, 1927 - October 22, 2014 Charlotte Johnston of Sequim passed away following a stroke on October 22, 2014, in Puyallup, Washington. She was born in Grand Junction, Colorado, on October 27, 1927, to Kenneth C. and Erma (Strain) Hornbaker. She attended Grand Junction High School and graduated with the class of 1945. She married her first husband, Eugene L. Hill, on October 4, 1947. They were separated by his passing in 1976. She married David A. Johnston on September 3, 1994. She belonged to Trinity United Methodist Church in Sequim and PEO. Charlotte was a homemaker for over 22 years at various U.S. naval stations, and worked in civil service at Bangor Naval Station. Charlotte was a woman for all seasons; she was a wife, mother, performer of good deeds, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, hostess, painter, and she cared deeply for all she knew. Charlotte wore purple ... and any other mixture of bright colors that suited her on a particular day - so long as it included purple. She loved her beach, her yard, her flowers, her family, and anyone who enjoyed them with her. For her, the end of life with us was a promotion. For those she left behind, she would say, "Miss me, but let me go." She leaves behind her husband, David A. Johnston, currently residing in Puyallup; three sons and three stepsons; one stepdaughter; two sisters; two brothers; eight grandchildren and five step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 South Blake Avenue, Sequim, on Sunday, November 9, at 1:30 p.m. Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to the Washington state chapter of PEO, www.peowashington.org

Char was truly a great woman in the best sense of our Christian faith. Char was a wonderful supportive member of the United Methodist Church in Sequim. Char's legacy is one of caring, compassion and a "get it done" mentality. God will truly bless her eternally.
