My deepest sympathy to Cheryl's family. I was in Miss Smith's first 3rd grade class at Fawcett. She was my all-time favorite teacher. My family and I fondly remember having her over for dinner. She also attended my birthday party and brought me a huge bouquet of daisies. If she saw me walking home from school, she would pick me up in her blue mustang car and drive me home. I will always remember her as a wonderful teacher and a very special person.

To the memories of someone who was worth fighting for. Some one, like a mother. Someone who was a friend. Whom every cent was worth it. To a friend, a guardian, and to a loving Teacher. My wishes to hear family, her friend, she will be a blessing for heaven above.

Dear Gundy Family,
I loved when Cheryl would come into the pharmacy. She always had a warm smile on her face. No matter how her day had gone she was smiling brightly asking how our day had been. She always took the time to have a conversation with us. She will be greatly missed by those that knew her. I know I will miss seeing her come in to talk.

I was shocked to see Cheryl's picture in the Tribune this morning. I remember first meeting her when she and Steven were dating and how surprised I was that a school teacher could have a social life. Our prayers and thoughts are with the family left behind by a soul who I am sure is singing with the heavenly choir.

Steve, Barb and I just heard of Cheryl's passing. We knew her to be one of the most caring and compassionate souls we have met. Her love for you, and your family was clear to us in our conversations with her. God bless you and we know Cheryl has earned her place in heaven.

I was in Miss Smith's 4th grade class at Fawcett Elementary School. She was such an inspiration to me! After having her as a teacher I decided I wanted to be a teacher too! Unfortunately I didn't persue my dream like she did. She had way about her teaching that I never wanted to miss a day of school! I believe that year was the only year I had perfect attendance! May God bless her family and give them the love and comfort they need during this time. I too lost my mother to cancer in 2005 and I know what they are going through.

I was in Mrs. Gundy's 4th grade class in 1980-81 @ Fawcett. She was a wonderful teacher and such a nice person. She is one of a small handful of Tacoma teachers that I can say inspired me to teach. I am beginning my 14th year as a teacher! My deepest sympathy. God bless.

I was shocked and saddened to read of Cheryl's passing this morning. Cheryl and I taught together at Sherman. She was a GREAT teacher, and cared deeply for each of her students. She also had a super sense of humor! We loved to recall our youth, both being teens in the 60's.
Cheryl dearly loved her husband Steve, and daughter Ashley. She spoke often of her family. They meant alot to her.
My sincere sympathy goes out to them.

I was shocked to learn of Cheryl's passing. It has been 13+ years since I've had contact with her and Steven. I remember countless hours where we would challenge each other's minds with often times trivial "travels of thought" in order to solve the world's problems or perhaps, the problems of that moment.
Cheryl was a kind person with a heart that always thought of others first. She had an easy smile, easy to laugh, and, most importantly, a soul that easily came to those that were down and hurting. She talked incessantly of her husband "Steven Dean." It was clear that she loved him deeply. She had a mischievious side and loved a good joke. And her sense of humor was as such, that she could laugh at herself as well. I am sure that she is in heaven teaching the little angels.
I will miss her.
God Bless and keep you "Teach!"
She hated being called "Teach"...but she always took it well!

Steve and Ashley, I am so sorry for your loss. My heart just sank when I read this. She was such a good teacher to my stepson, David. She never gave up and helped us help him. I worked with Cheryl at Sherman for the 5 years that she was there. She was a wonderful woman and she just adored my daughter. My thoughts and prayers are with the 2 of you and the rest of the family.

It was with sadness that I read of Cheryl's passing. My heartfelt sympathy to the family.
I was in "Miss Smith's" very first third grade class at Fawcett. Later, I was a TA for one of Mrs. Gundy's fourth grade classes. She was a very special woman. I will always remember her as kind and selfless.
