DAVID GRIBBON Obituary

David Michael Gribbon Of Tacoma, died Sunday, July 13th, while visiting family in Moscow, ID, due to complications surrounding his decade-long battle with cancer. David was born August 21, 1952 in Tacoma and was the youngest son of James and Marilyn Gribbon. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1970, at the height of the Vietnam War. Though he was accepted into college, David voluntarily enlisted in the United States Navy. He served as a Marine Mechanic aboard the USS Juneau (LPD-10). During David's time in the Navy, he completed five deployments to the western Pacific, including eight trips into Vietnamese waters. In the summer of 1976 he left the Navy and enrolled in trade school to pursue a career as a machinist. After obtaining his degree, he began working for the Navy in Bremerton as a civilian contractor, during which time he helped to decommission Ohio-class nuclear submarines, as part of the SALT I treaty. Over time he advanced his career, working for Marine Iron Works and Precision Machine Works, and obtained the title of Aerospace Machinist. David is survived by his son James, daughter Katie, twin sons Michael and Justin, his mother Marilyn, and his older brother Richard (Suphakarn). Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on August 2, 2014 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, located at 5510 N 44th St. in Tacoma. David will be entombed at Tahoma National Cemetery, alongside his father, at a later date.

My dad.... 2023 and I so wish I could just call you and here your voice again. It wasn't fair you went way to soon. You would be amazed at the boys journeys! They are amazing adults. I love you and miss you so much. I hope it's better where you are and mimi and poppy are right next to you.

Your only daughter misses you and you'd be teasing me right now asking me how much I need and handing me your wallet.

I sure miss you terribly

This is the first I've heard of Dave's passing. I would have been at the service if I had known. I'd known Dave for many years. He was always available to help the neighbors around his parents home including me. He would do anything for Jim and Marilyn and his children. I enjoyed watching Justin and Michael grow and found them helpful and perfect little gentlemen. You will be missed Dave. May the power of prayer seeks God's mercy and love for the Gribbon family and friends.
