Pat Gribbon Obituary

Pat Leary Gribbon
1943 - 2024
Pat Gribbon, 81, of Yarmouth, Maine passed away on July 4, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Pat, son of Raymond and Agnes Gribbon, was born in Waterbury, CT, grew up on Laurel Beach in Milford and spent most of his life as a Stratford resident. He graduated from Notre Dame-West Haven before being called to serve in the Air Force in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Vietnam and the Philippines ('64-'68). Pat returned to the U.S. via the U.K. with (his family would say "Of course") a new MG sports car.
Pat graduated UCONN, where he met his wife, Anne. He remained a loyal UCONN fan for the rest of his life, reveling in their basketball victories. Anne and Pat were married for 48 years and were the proud parents of a son, James, and daughter, Jessica. He happily participated in his children's activities, including camping with the Boy Scouts (where he was named Grand Poo-Bah, in charge of better camping food), YMCA father-daughter groups, their sports endeavors and football games at their colleges.
Pat enjoyed entertaining family and friends at home, eating good food, playing golf with his buddies, volunteering with Stratford organizations, relaxing on beaches and…Oh, how he loved cars! He was always ready to purchase the latest, fastest car and even participated in club races at Lime Rock Park.
Pat was an accomplished businessman, excelling in sales and marketing at several companies before purchasing his own small business, Paperwork Products Company, which designed and sold business forms.
Pat is survived by his wife, Anne; son, James; daughter, Jessica (husband David Joyce), granddaughters, Hailey and Teagan Joyce; brother, Jim Gribbon (wife Beth); sister, Rayellen Martelon (husband Jeff); and many nieces and nephews. Burial took place at the Southern Maine Memorial Veterans Cemetery on July 17. A memorial service will be held at the First United Church of Christ, Congregational in Milford, CT, on September 7, at 11 a.m.
Fair winds and following seas, Pat

Anne, Jamie and Jessie. I´m so very very sorry to hear of Pats passing. He was a great man, employer and friend. I actually tried calling him yesterday to see if we could get together if and when he came to Connecticut. I miss his talks, laughter and just hanging out. He will be truly missed. My heartfelt condolences to all of you! Rest in peace my dear friend! Love, Dawn.

To Anne, Jamie, Jessica and the family, Donna and I send our heartfelt condolences on this occasion-Pat´s passing. Sadly, this 67 year friendship has ended, leaving us with so many fond remembrances. Pat´s heart made him bigger than life-so many passions for fast cars, fine dining, the beach, and family and friends gatherings. I will greatly miss Pat, the brother I never had. R.I.P

To Ann and Family, So sorry to hear of Pat´s passing. He was such a grand presence to say the least. Always with a smile! He was incredibly proud of his family and all their accomplishments. How he loved cars! And he was so big for those little cars but it worked and worked well. Pat had the best personality for sales. Humor ,kindness and ofcourse knowledge . I always enjoyed our visits at the dental office, never boring. One big memory was the most moving eulogy to his dear friend Carol Costello, brought us all to tears. Says a lot about friendship! Rest in peace big guy, may your family find peace in fond memories. Gerri Giering Woodbridge

I worked as a Life Guard at Silver Beach, back in the Summer of 1962 with Pat. I remember him as a genuinely nice human being. He was a pleasure to work with helpful and friendly at all times. My condolences to his family and friends.

He was a great friend, easy conversationalist. Loved his Oldsmobile 442 convertible. He loved Laurel Beach and was a bigger than life figure. He will missed.
