David Seabrook Obituary
July 16, 1943 - January 7, 2021
Tacoma, Washington - David Allen Seabrook passed away January 7th, 2021 after a short hospital stay battling cancer.
Dave was born July 16th, 1943 to C.S. and Grace Seabrook. He was always interested in taking things apart and led his family to believe he might one day be an engineer. Turns out he really just liked figuring out how things worked. In the 1960's Dave worked for the US Geological Survey, married Vergia in the Fall of 1963, and served in the Navy on the USS Cogswell from 1966-1969. The first of his four children was born in 1971. The 70's were a blur. By the 1980's Dave was working for local political candidates and would eventually chair the 29th district Democratic Party. As the 1990's rolled around, Dave went back to college pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees in geology. In the last decades of his life Dave volunteered to help with water quality and salmon recovery efforts in Pierce County, and also pursued dedicated interests in growing roses and dismantling white supremacy. Dave is survived by his wife Vergia, his four children, two nephews, and eight grandchildren.
No service will be held but donations may be made in his name to the NAACP, www.naacp.org.

Our condolences to Vergia and family on the loss of Dave. I greatly enjoyed my many conversations with Dave while participating in restoration efforts on the Puyallup River Watershed Council and other recovery forums. His passion was always evident and shared. He will be sorely missed.
