David Senner Obituary

David Senner
November 28, 1943 - March 2, 2021
Sonoma, California - David Henry Senner, 77, of Sonoma, California, died suddenly on March 2, 2021, of cardiac arrest. After spending most of his life in Gig Harbor, Washington, he'd been living in Sonoma since his retirement in 2011. David was born Nov. 28, 1943, in Tacoma, WA. He graduated from Queen Anne High School in Seattle where he was an All-City and All-American running back. He went on to play for the University of Washington Huskies and was an avid fan throughout his life. During the Vietnam War David joined the USMC reserves and served for six years.
David, (AKA Poppy, Wave, Dog, and Bebop), is survived by his loving wife and travel partner of 55 years, Patricia, their two children, Drew (Heather) and Laura Hall (Keenan), four beautiful granddaughters, Olivia and Ella Hall and Sierra and Skylar Senner, as well as many dear and precious friends. Throughout his life, David enjoyed being part of his children's lives–a superb father who coached their teams and was an ever-present fan for Drew and Laura. He is also survived by sister Barbara Corson, brother John Senner and many nieces and nephews.
David's career centered on his two main businesses, Tacoma Truss Systems and Abolins AV Photographic, both of which he grew into thriving companies. Through his business and executive leadership, David received numerous awards including the "Business Leader of the Year" accolade. Known for his generosity and compassion, he was active in several philanthropic organizations, including Tacoma Actors Guild, Goodwill, and Chamber of Commerce. A true community leader, he also received the Tacoma Chamber of Commerce's "Outstanding Community Leadership" award.
David loved animals, especially birds, and was a talented, award winning photographer, including a second-place finish in the prestigious Alaska Airlines annual contest. He will be remembered for his yearly calendars and travel slide shows. Always an outstanding athlete, he ran many half and full marathons including Paris, London, Rome, and Bordeaux. He did the Seattle to Portland bicycle ride twice (200 Miles) and had climbed Mt. Rainier. David and Patricia traveled extensively and visited all but one continent.
David will be remembered for his unfailing kindness, his generosity, his loving and gentle nature, his leadership, his energy, and his true empathy for others.

What a nice man. David always singled out individuals at a gathering to make a connection. And Pat and David clearly loved each other even after 55 years. They were each other’s best friend. We will miss David greatly and Jim and I are honored to have enjoyed him for the last 10 years.
