To Dennis's family....I am sooooo very sorry for your loss. I worked with Dennis at Tacoma Fixture Company for many years. We definately had a lively, sometimes very argumentative working relationship.....let's just say we didn't always see eye to eye. But overall I really enjoyed working with him. He was a good guy and he will be missed by many. Again, I am truely sorry for your loss.

Dear CeCe,Girls and the entire Hoefer Family--

My thoughts and prayers are with you all, we are sorry we missed the services as we were on vacation at the time. We were sadden to hear about his illness and feel lucky to have some great memories -- BBQ's, xmas partys and dancing the night away. Dennis left an impression on everyone he meet with his hugs and that Great Smile of his. Then there is the love he had for all of his girls-- there the ones who really made him beam-just talking about them he would light up any room.. He will truely be missed. Thanks for the smiles/memories.

Please feel free to give us a call if you need anything.

Cece,Brianna and Emily,
I want you all to know how much I love you and will do all I can to be there for each of you anytime. I received a message from a friend and when I read it I thought of Dennis -

IT'S NOT WHAT YOU GATHER, BUT WHAT YOU SCATTER THAT TELLS WHAT KIND OF
LIFE YOU HAVE LIVED!

I look at pictures of you all with Dennis and see how much love he has for you all just remember
"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away.

You have a wonderful family in the Hoefer's they love each of you very much - as we all do.

Dennis you will forever be in our hearts and memories.

Dear CeCe, Brianna, Emily & Hoefer Family,
My deepest sympathy to all of you, my thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time, and my heart aches for the pain you are feeling!
Though I did not know Dennis well I enjoyed so much the times we did visit, I loved to tease him about his "special grass", telling him I was going to sneak in some nasty weeds!! His lawn was the best on the block! I always looked forward to him bringing the girls to my house for Halloween and he never failed to thank me for making it special w/our decorations & pumpkins!
I saw him recently at Lowes, and he told me he was ill, but still w/that mega watt smile on his face and those beautiful twinkling eyes, he assured me he was going to be fine as he said, "I have to see my girls grow up"! Then he gave me the biggest hug! That memory will stay w/me for a long time. I am so sorry he will not get to fulfill his dream.
The light on our street has dimmed considerably, but I know his smile is still big and his eyes still twinkling as he looks down on his beloved family! May all your precious memories give you warmth and comfort forever, and may God watch over you and Bless you!

Dear Hoefer Family,
I am so sad to hear about the loss of a wonderful husband and father. I grew up down the street from you, (The Holmes house with all the Halloween decorations!) I loved watching how proud Dennis was of everything in his life. We looked forward to all the decorations in the yard every holiday season and seeing him take the girls trick or treating, or during the summer seeing the camper back out for another summer vacation. Dennis has such an amazing adoration for his family and life. I was driving to my parents today and saw all of the flowers and cried, Im so sorry that you have lost such an amazing person at the peak of his life. He would always talk about how proud he was of his girls. I know you girls are proud of him too, coming from a family of all girls, you will always have each other and that sister bond is so strong. You three will be in my thoughts and prayers.

We here at the Lakewood Multicare Clinic would like to send our deepest sympathy to your family. We have all been thinking alot about all of you and your children. Dennis sounds like he was a great guy. From what I have heard he was always great with all of the people and children that he encountered in life and that is wonderful. He will definetly be missed by all. Just remember that your still have each other and a special angel to watch over you.

Good Bye Sweet Dennis----God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put loving arms around you and wispered "come to me". Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating; hard working hands at rest, God broke our hearts To prove to us, He only takes the "Best". It's hard to understand why someone so sweet is taken from us, but find comfort in knowing you were a special part of a well-lived life. We wish the entire Hoefer Family deep sympathy from your friend's at this time of sadness. Dennis, We'll see you on the other side. Love to you all.

CeCe, Brianna,Emily & Hoefer Family,
My deepest sympathy to all of you, my heart aches knowing the hurt you are feeling!Though I did not know Dennis well I knew from the first time I met him that he was a special person! That mega watt smile and those beautiful, sparkling eyes lit up the world around him, especially when talking about "his girls"! I always looked forward to seeing them on Halloween, and he always thanked me for the way I decorated my yard and for making it special! I loved to tease him about his grass, the best on the block!! I did not know he was ill until very recently when I saw him at Lowes and he told me but was so upbeat and said "I am going to be OK, I have to see those girls grow up!" I am so sorry he will not get to fufill that dream. I lost my Dad too when I was young so I understand how hard this is on the girls. The day I talked w/Dennis will be a fond memory for me as he shared his beautiful smile along w/ an enormous hug! What a sweet, special man! May all of your wonderful memories give you endless comfort, and may God watch over you and bless you always.

Wow, the words don't seem to come so easy when it's your turn, now do they...but Wow...Dennis, you sure leave behind such a legacy....I, among so many others, attended school with you, year after year...after year...and as though it seems like yesterday, when we were all just kids, in those tight cramped hallways, in passing, I remember so much how happy it made me when i could say, " Hi Dennis" and you would flash your smile at me and say " Hi Cindy". Wow, I still can't believe youre gone, and it hurts to look back at those yearbooks....that smile of yours, is your very legacy...Keep Smiling! There is so many reasons for us to keep smiling too, and that is for each one of us is smiling back at you...With all my heart, I hope i chose the right words to say....

We were so surprised to hear about Dennis. It is hard to loose someone so young. As a teenager Dennis spent a lot of time at our house and I gave him lots of hair cuts. When we think of him we remember his loving caring ways. He was always ready with a hug and his smile would light up the room. Are thoughts and prayers go out to his family and may you have comfort in knowing he is in a much better place. Dennis, give our Shelly a big hug and a kiss for us and tell her we miss her.

Dennis My Friend

I am so sorry for the many years we missed but so thankful for the years we shared. I have so many special memories of our friendship and those crazy junior high, high school and early adult years together. You were my classmate, my chauffer, my co-worker, my shoulder to cry on and most importantly my very special friend. You were the one who could make me smile when no one else could. With that sparkle in your eyes and that smile, oh yes that smile you could brighten even the darkest of days. Give Shelly a big hug for me and tell her I miss her. Until we meet again, I will think of you often with a smile in my heart, always remembering our special times.

To the Hoefer Family

I know this is a very difficult time and I hope you find comfort in knowing Dennis is in a much better place. Thank you for sharing him with so many people over the years he was truly an amazing friend. His smile and fun loving nature will be missed. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,

CeCe and girls,
I can only say how sorry I am for the loss. Dennis was so fun to be around and definetly entertaining. Thank you so much for allowing me into your world and the honor of knowing you and your family. God has plans for you and the girls. One of the verses in the Bible I clung to often when I was a single mother was Isaiah 40:11
He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart he gently lead those who have young.Claim it with everything you have and talk often with our Lord. He loves and cares for you.

I hope to get together with you and the family soon.

CeCe, Brianna & Emily,
Where do I start? My sister, Lisa, called me to say that Dennis' obituary was in the paper. I was in complete shock. Our families have not seen each other much over the past few years. That doesn't change what a great person Dennis was or how much he was loved as a friend. Every memory of Dennis makes me smile or laugh! The Limosine Scavenger Hunts,(my favorite year) was the Wizard of OZ. Dennis was the Lion. CeCe was Glinda the Good Witch. He was so cute and cuddly. I remember how much he loved to hug and touch you, CeCe. You were blessed to have him as a husband, as we were blessed to have him as a friend. Camping at Clearlake that one year is another funny memory. Steve, Scott and Dennis were in a 2 man boat, fishing. Us girls were at the shore. The motor was barely running because the water was so close to coming over the sides of the boat. These are the memories that I hope will bring you and all of your family joy, peace and comfort in this terribly difficult time. We all love you and are praying for you daily. Please let us know if we can do anything for any of you. Love and Hugs,

Kris and Scott Boisen

We are so saddened by your loss. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you.
What we will remember most about Dennis is his infectious smile. No matter the time or place he always had a warm hello and a bright welcoming smile. The world was a better place for having him in it. I know that you CeCe and your girls will carry that on. Now he is watching over you all and proud to have been a part of your lives as I know you were proud to be a part of his. He will live forever in your hearts. ~ God Bless ~ Russel and Lisa Croft

Cece and Girls,
I am deeply sorry for your loss. Although we did not spend alot time with your family, the time we did will always be remembered. Dennis was a true friend to anyone he met, whether is was a lifetime or an hour. His passion for life and sincerity too care was displayed in his actions. We are all very blessed to have been touched by such a special individual like Dennis. I hope you find comfort knowing that his journey has not ended, it is just beginning. Your Angel will be with you always. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

July 18, 2007

One of the happiest days of my life was the day Dennis accepted me as his father. I remember that day so well, Out of the blue, Dennis came up to my leg, wrapped his little arms around my leg and hugged it so tight and looked up into my eyes and had that Beautiful little boy smile on his face.
I miss Dennis so much and will miss him every last breath of my life. He was always there for me and all I ever had to do was hint that I needed something or some help and he was always there, come rain or shine.
One of the most memorable times I had with Dennis was when I was working in Corvalolis, Oregon, Dennis brought his famile there for a visit just before Christmas of 1995, we drove all over Oregon, stoppiong at all the wineries that we found doing wine tasting, It was such a great time.
We went to a huge Christmas light display and drove around and around that display probably 20 times, after each pass round, Brianna would say "again, again" and we would go around again.
Brianna & Emily, Please just always remember I am here for you, I will always be here for you.
Cece, No man in this whole wide world could ask for a better Daughter in Law. You will always be my Daughter in Law.
We all miss Dennis so much and will continue to miss him, and I know he is in a much better place.

Dennis,
you will be missed greatly by many people, especially the people you touched with your bright smile and twinkling eyes and your awesome laugh everyday. The love you had for life and finding all the positives in everything truly made you an amazing and very rare commodity. It puzzels me why God would take such an asset from us, when there truly are too few of you. I am sad that 6 years had passed and our families were not as close as they should have been. Still, we feel as close to you as though you were in our lives everyday and love you that much too. As I sit here writing this with unbelievable sorrow and uncontrollable tears streaming down my cheeks, I cant help but have a smile in my heart at the thought of you. It truly amazes me that even near the end of your journey you still had that 100 watt smilie going. John is having a pretty rough go of it, please watch over him and help him through. This is unlike anything he has ever had to go thru and I am not sure how to help him. WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH DENNIS..YOU WILL BE GREATLY MISSED BY ALL WHO KNOW AND LOVE YOU.

CeCe, Brianna & Ema-lie,
We know the 3 of you know better than anybody what a special man your husband and dad was. We know the 3 of you will keep him vibrantly alive in your hearts and in your surroundings as we all should. Carrying that zest for life that he ALWAYS seemed to exude. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, and your extended family. Please find some kind of comfort in knowing that he is now above watching over and protecting you. Make him proud and live the life he would have, with passion, honesty, integrity and loyalness, carry kindness in your heart to all of those you should meet. We should all use Dennis as an example of how kindness, friendship and loyalty should be in all our hearts. He has obviously left a very lasting impression on MANY people. Your loss is immeasurable. May all of the memories you hold of him keep a smile on your face and him alive in your hearts, I know they will for John and I.

We are very sorry for your loss. I know how much Dennis loved each of you and how much you all loved him. He was an amazing man with lots of energy, laughter and love. He was very proud of you all and it showed. We have lots of memories of Dennis that we will cherish forever. One thing about Dennis is he loved babies and little kids (he was such a kid at heart himself). I’ll never forget how hard he use to make my boys laugh. It was so great to watch. Thank you Dennis for these memories – we are going to miss you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all and may the memories you have fill the emptiness you are feeling at this time. We love you and are here if you ever need anything!

Cece and girls,
Words cannot express how sorry I am. Dennis was a pure joy to be around. He lit up a room with his contagious smile and constant energy. I enjoyed being around him when he was with his family and friends. He thoroughly had a zest for life! We always had a great time with you guys. I hope you can find comfort in the many memories you were able to make. I too have lost someone extremely special to me this year from cancer and it is not fair! The Lord works in mysterious ways. Although we may not understand just why these special people are taken from us, I do believe that there is a reason. I can relate to your pain and I know it is great. Hang in there my sweet friends for your darling angel from above will help you through this difficult time. Rely on your faith, family, and friends. Love to all of you!

I have known Dennis since maybe before junior high. We shared a lot of friends and good times over the years. My fondest memories of Dennis was when we hung out mostly the whole summer. Because he lived a couple blocks away, I was always over there, he was always happy to have me come over and hang out and keep each other company so we weren't bored. He made me laugh and was comical and so fun. I feel for those that were the closest to him, cuz I am so sad and I haven't seen him for years. I remember his watch collection, I guess he knew he had to hold on to time...He was one of the people in my life I really couldn't wait to see again, it breaks my heart that I didn't get to.

I haven't seen Dennis in a few years but I will always remember how he used to let me tag-a-long when I was a kid. I am sorry that I wasn't able to say goodbye properly, but I will have him and your family in my thoughts and prayers. My sincere condolences.

Dear Hoefer family~

It seems like just a few years back Hollie, Dennis and I were all in 2nd grade together. I remember thinking how annoying he was during our Bluebird meetings! I had a chance to email with Dennis a year of so ago thru Classmates and was so happy to hear how happy life was for you all. I am so sorry for you loss, but know you will see Dennis again in Heaven. May God bless you all~

Cece, Brianna, & Emily,
I have never had the opportunity to meet you, but I want you to know my prayers are with your family. Dennis will be so missed. I have seen him several times throughout the years and he was always so happy and welcoming. He always had such a warm presence and will be so missed. His smile and kindness will always be remembered. Your lucky to have such the Guardian Angel to watch over you, as he will allways be in your lives and in your Hearts.

Cece, Brianna & Emily,
I wish to express my sympathy for your loss. Dennis and I worked together installing the kitchen cabinets in our home, sometimes late into the night. He had to get it perfect, but you all know that. But the best for me, going into Lowe's or Home Depot with Dennis. He would light up and had to look at everything in the store, eventually we'd find what we went there for in the first place. What a wonderful memory he left me and I know he left you all so many more. April and I share your loss, but Heaven is rejoicing with the bright spirit of Dennis among the angels.

Dennis has been in my life since he was in grade school (as my son, Jim Evanger's friend). He was a good little boy, a good teen-ager and a good young man. Always polite, smiling and very proud of his wife and girls. We are all lucky to have known Dennis. My heart goes out to his family and my prayers are for His protection of you now.

If tears could build a stairway and memories were a lane,
We would walk all the way to Heaven, to bring you home again
No farewell words were spoken, no time to say good-bye
You were gone before we knew it, and only God knows why
Our hearts ache in sadness, and secret tears will flow
What is meant to lose you, no one will ever know

Cece, Brianna, Emily and the entire Hoefer family,
Your loss is great and I am so sorry. Losing such a person as Dennis is sad. He truly loved his family. He had a great spirit and love of life. Always busy with a new project. We hadn't seen each other in a few years but I always felt a part of the Hoefer family! We were neighbors growing up and did much camping together.
You are all in my heart and prayers. This time is the toughest of all. I will remember Dennis as he was - smiling, energetic and a friend.

My thoughts and prayers go out to your family. God bless you all and may he carry you through this difficult time.

I've known Dennis since middle school at Baker through High School at Mt. Tahoma. I cannot recall a moment that he didn't have a smile on his face. Always outgoing, cheerful, and positve, he was a blessing to know. Not having direct contact with him since graduation but seeing him here and there he was still the same happy go lucking guy I'd always known him to be. He will surely be missed by all who knew him...
